Speech Performances and Flooding

Last Thursday was the speech performances, and there were heaps of well written speeches. My topic was why you should get vaccinated. I went 44th but lots of people before me were away, so I was a bit earlier. Shivers ran down my spine as I stepped up onto the little stage, this was scary!

My speech was over and done with as soon as it started. I had mucked up in the middle of it, but that didn't matter, I had gotten my point across. After a while, kids started leaving, in the middle of the speeches. I thought it was Campion tour for the year six's, but then year five's started leaving. What was going on? 

When there was just half the class left, the teachers decided to stop speeches where they were because of the disruption. They told us that the weather forecast said the rain was meant to die off, but it had got stronger and there were flooding warnings for Gisborne. I glanced out the window and there was a puddle, ankle deep. 

After a while, my mum came and picked me up. Sponge Bay was told to evacuate because of high flooding. Our school hall was a safe place for the families that had to evacuate. Here are some photos:

 I really liked doing speeches, and I hope we do them at Intermediate! The flood wasn't as fun!

Ice cream sundae

Last week, in our writing workshop we wrote instructions of how to make an ice cream sundae. Then on Tuesday, we all went into the staffroom to make our treat! We swapped instructions with people, ( I swapped with Ella ) and followed our instructions exactly.

My instructions went really well as Ella loved her ice cream sundae! The ingredients we were meant to have were: vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, hundreds and thousands and a pink wafer, which we didn't have so instead we used some marshmallows. 

I think Ella's instructions were amazing but we both could have added how many scoops of ice cream. Over all I absolutely loved this and I hope we do something  like this again sometime soon.

Household Chores

This week for our quickwrite, we had to write four answers to four questions. The questions were: Should children help with household chores, What household chores would you enjoy doing, and why, What household chores would be your least favourite, and why, and the last question is, If you could choose between homework and household chores, what would you choose, and why?

This is my first paragraph.

Should children help with household chores?

Yes I think everybody should help with chores including children. Kids should do chores because, chores may seem boring but they actually make kids happy and feel good about themselves. Also kids should help around the house because, chores teach kids two really good things: responsibility and time management. Chores include: Ironing, vacuuming, mopping, dusting and making your bed.

Delicious Menu

This week we had so many AWESOME priorities such as: 

we wrote letters to the Board of Trustees about why 

we wanted to have a shorter term, another letter to our 

principle as our teacher is leaving in term 3 and we 

need a new one who is suitable.  But my 

favorite was making a yummy menu and

a yucky menu. Here they are. What dish would

The Dama

This is a Dama, a dog and a Llama.

It has a dog's head and a  Llamas body.

It's an omnivore.

My animal lives in the country but travels in the wild.

They eat grass and bones all day.

They can be invisible and fly.

This Dama eats grass and bones, it lives in the country but travels in the wild.
